The Austrian biologist Heinz Janetschek (1913-1997) and the Italian geologist Fiorenzo Caesare Ugolini (* 1929), who both worked at the McMurdo station from 1961 to 1962 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program , took the name in January 1962 in front.
