The University Valley is a 1.5 km long and ice-free side valley on the southeast side of the Beacon Valley in the Quartermain Mountains of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is northeast of the Farnell Valley .

The Austrian biologist Heinz Janetschek (1913-1997) and the Italian geologist Fiorenzo Caesare Ugolini (* 1929), who both worked at the McMurdo station from 1961 to 1962 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program , took the name in January 1962 in front. It is named after its universities, on the one hand the University of Innsbruck and also the Rutgers University .
