Our life is an animal documentary . The film was produced in 2011 by BBC Earth . It was released in German cinemas in mid-March 2012.

The documentary is directed by BBC documentary filmmakers Martha Holmes and Michael Gunton . The film is based on the 10-part BBC TV series Life - Das Wunder Leben . This elaborate production, in which 35 cameramen were involved and for which sometimes months of observation trips were undertaken, provided the raw material.

The behavior of different animals is shown and the stations in life ( life history ) are described: growing up, finding food, looking for protection, finding a partner, raising children. The animals depicted include leaf cutter ants , bearded vultures , saiga antelopes and golden mole .

The German voiceover is Dietmar Wunder , the German dubbing voice of the original voiceover is Daniel Craig . Craig's collaboration with the BBC goes back to the BBC drama series Our Friends in the North , in which Craig starred.

criticism

The film received consistently good reviews from film buffs in Germany. Above all, the combination of the means used and the well-told story was recognized. The humanization of the animals as well as the lack of dramaturgy was noted negatively, since it is a cut of several episodes.

marketing

In Germany, the German marketing department of the film created a booklet for teachers. The film is recommended by the German sales department for the subjects biology, geography, religion, ethics, music and art.
