content

General

The show lived mainly from Ulmens humorous sayings, contributions and videos. His comical actions and activities during the moderation were a special trademark of this program.

Greeting phrase

Christian Ulmen greeted viewers in every program with the traditional sentence: “ Hello, my name is Christian Ulmen, I am a moderator and therefore I am obliged to be your friend. Come on, let's play! "

The marginalized groups

Among other things, its so-called fringe groups were part of it . Christian Ulmen invited people who, in a certain way, made an impression as outsiders . They were then allowed to sit in the studio during the broadcast and watch the entire broadcast. Later these fringe groups were only switched on via video conference until they disappeared completely from the program.

Single player

During the broadcast elm 2- to 3-minute showed the rolling of sections as Einspieler . He usually slipped into a certain bizarre role ( disguised as a chick, for example ) in order to confront unsuspecting passers-by . At times , director and editor-in-chief Jörg Diernberger also worked in front of the camera, who often appeared at the side of “Tweety” in traditional Scottish clothing.

Under elms politics

Later in 2002 there were also so-called " Unter Ulmen Politik " programs. He talked to well-known politicians like Joschka Fischer and Franz Müntefering .

Guests

Ulmen had also invited other well-known people, mostly from the music industry, to the show. Including the German musicians Xavier Naidoo , Laith Al-Deen , the rapper Kool Savas , and the two German pop groups MIA. and Sportfreunde Stiller .

Special

In one episode, Ulmen moderated together with his "brother" Christoph , who was played by Ulmen himself.

Appearance of the studios

Filmed under elms in two different studios. The first studio was a basement-like room with a leather armchair, a desk and several monitors , which Christian Ulmen himself smashed with a baseball bat shortly before moving to the newer studio . The damaged individual parts of the set were offered and sold at the Internet auction house Ebay .

In the new studio, Ulmen moderated in front of a lunar landscape. A camera was mounted on the studio ceiling that Christian Ulmen was able to show from unusual perspectives.

End of broadcast

Shortly before the cancellation, MTV only broadcast best-of programs. In autumn 2002, the production of new clips was abandoned because Christian Ulmen was already concentrating on the shooting of the movie " Herr Lehmann ". In the spring of 2003, the show was broadcast for the last time. He said goodbye to his audience with the words: "Well ... that was the last episode of Unter Ulmen ... and I ... I'll do something else now." But see you again! See you!"

“That was a lessening of the passion and then you honestly have to stop. Otherwise it will be bad. The routine was there and I was bored. "
