The subunit 4 of the Arp 2/3 complex , abbreviated p20-ARC or just p20 (because of the molar mass of around 20 kDa ) is a structural protein and together with six other proteins forms the Arp 2/3 complex . The protein is encoded by the ARPC4 gene on the third human chromosome .

function

The subunit 4 of the Arp 2/3 complex interacts with the proteins Arp2 , Arp3 , p16 , p21 , p34 and p40 and together with them forms the Arp 2/3 complex, which plays an important role in the formation of actin filaments from G- Actin plays. The complex acts namely as a center for further actin nucleation by an actin dimer mimics the two subunits Arp 2 and 3, but it is more stable than the dimer itself. The subunit 4 seems to have a high affinity for actin, which is necessary for the function of the complex.
