The Uncial 055 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ) is a Greek uncial manuscript of the New Testament , which is dated to the 11th century using palaeography . It contains the incomplete text of the four Gospels with commentaries on 303 sheets of parchment (26 × 19.5 cm). The code was described in one column with 37 lines per page.

description

The commentaries are in the western order ( Matthew , John , Luke , Mark ). The first three Gospels use Chrysostom's commentaries . The Gospel of Mark uses the commentary from Victorinus .

The code is written in semi-uncial handwriting and is therefore listed in both uncial and minuscule manuscript lists. It is "very peculiar in style and beautifully written". Hermann von Soden did not include it in his catalog. According to some scholars, it is more of a commentary than a New Testament manuscript.

The code is kept in the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Gr. 201) in Paris .

The Greek text of the manuscript represents the Byzantine text type , yet Aland did not place it in any category . It is one of the few uncial manuscripts that are not cited in Nestle-Aland's Novum Testamentum Graece .

The code was examined by Scholz , Burgon , and Paulin Martin .
