Coordinates: 57 ° 10 ′ N , 15 ° 21 ′ O Uppvidinge is a municipality ( Swedish commun ) in the Swedish province of Kronobergs län and the historic province of Småland . The main town of the municipality is Åseda .
history
In 1971 the municipality was formed by merging the market towns of Åseda and Lenhovda with the rural municipalities of Nottebäck and Älghult. The name comes from the Harde Uppvidinge ( Uppvidinge härad ), whose area largely coincides with that of the municipality.
When asked which place should become the main town, there were several alternatives at the time. Finally, Åseda was designated, but the social administration is located in Lenhovda.
