history

When the municipal structure was reformed in 1952, seven municipalities were formed around Ljungby. These were: Annerstad (from four parishes ), Berga (from three parishes), Forsheda (from six parishes), Hamneda (from three parishes), Lidhult (from three parishes, including the local structure Lidhult formed in 1922), Ryssby ( from three parishes) and Unnaryd (from three parishes). The city of Ljungby was not involved in this reform.

In 1971 Ljungby Commune was formed. It consisted of the amalgamation of Annerstad, Berga, Hamneda and Ryssby. The old municipalities of Forsheda, Lidhult and Unnaryd were divided and partly added to the municipality of Ljungby.

Reichsstraße 1 (RV1), which later became E 4 , used to run through the municipality of Ljungby . Parts of the former route can still be found in the municipality today. These sections are signposted and are now called Riksettan . At Hallsjö you will find the ruins of the Hallsjö church dating back to the Middle Ages, as well as the Hallsjö burial grounds to the south .

coat of arms

Structure: A green field on which a golden wavy bar lies and divides the field in the middle. In the upper area you can see 3 hammers that are on the style. In the lower part there is a rod of Mercury, everything in gold. When the city of Ljungby received city rights in 1936, the responsible state office (Riksheraldikerämbetet) had this coat of arms drawn up. The picture gives evidence of the Lagan River and of handicrafts and trade. After the commune was formed, the coat of arms continued to be used unchanged, the coats of arms of Berga and Bolmsö disappeared. The coat of arms has been registered with the State Patent and Registration Office (PRV) for the municipality since 1974.

Bigger places

In addition to the main town of Ljungby, there are seven other crime scenes in the municipality : Agunnaryd , Angelstad , Kånna , Lagan , Lidhult , Ryssby and Vittaryd .
