Agunnaryd is a place ( Småort ) in the Swedish province of Kronobergs län and the historical province (landskap) Småland .
geography
Agunnaryd is about 15 kilometers southeast of Ljungby . The river Helge å runs east of the town center and forms the lake Agunnarydsjön .
history
Agunnaryd was first mentioned as Agundaryd in 1330 . Until 2010 it had the status of a crime scene ; thereafter its population fell below 200, so that it is now run as Småort .
The IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad grew up in Agunnaryd and founded in 1943 his now internationally active company here. The A in IKEA stands for Agunnaryd.
