Urban Janke

Urban Janke (born February 12, 1887 in Blottendorf , Bohemia ; † 1915 missing on the Eastern Front) was an Austrian graphic artist and designer.

Life

Janke studied from 1903 to 1908 at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Bertold Löffler and Rudolf von Larisch . He designed posters and glass objects for Lobmeyr , contributed illustrations to the magazine Erdgeist and created pictures for the Wiener Werkstätte . From 1908 he taught at the Magdeburg School of Applied Arts . He was a member of the Austrian Werkbund .

Janke took part in the Kunstschau Wien 1908 , the winter exhibition of the Museum for Art and Industry 1911/12 and the Bugra Leipzig in 1914.
