The Urmi River is the right headwaters of the Tunguska in the Khabarovsk region of Russia's Far East .

It has its origin on the southern flank of the Badschal Mountains . From there it flows in a south-westerly direction, later in a southerly direction along the eastern edge of the Bureja Mountains . Eventually the river reaches the Amur lowlands and turns east. In the last kilometers before it meets the other source river of the Tunguska, Kur , it forms the border river between the Khabarovsk region and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast . The 458 km long river drains an area of 15,000 km². The mean discharge 204 km before the mouth is 170 m³ / s. The river freezes in November and is ice-free again in late April / early May.
