Urs Bürgi

Urs Bürgi (born August 27, 1909 in Wädenswil ; † June 13, 1989 in Zurich ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Bürgi, the son of National Councilor Conrad Bürgi , attended the canton school in Zurich and received his doctorate in 1936 from the University of Zurich . He worked as a surgeon and urologist and ran a private practice from 1940. From 1944 to 1950 Bürgi was a member of the Zurich District and Central School Maintenance and the supervisory committee of the Zurich Higher Daughter School . From 1948 to 1951 he was president of Club Felix , an association of Catholic academics in Zurich.

From 1951 to 1955 Bürgi was a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council and from 1959 was the first Christian Social Education Council. In 1963 he became the first Christian Social Councilor . As such, he headed the Health and Welfare Directorate until 1975. He found his final resting place in the Enzenbühl cemetery .
