Conrad Bürgi

Conrad Bürgi (born June 9, 1874 in Arth ; † September 13, 1945 in Weggis ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

Bürgi attended the college in Sarnen and did his doctorate at the University of Zurich . From 1918 he ran a private practice for surgery in Zurich.

In the years 1899/1900 Bürgi was the central president of the Swiss Student Association and a founding member of the Club Felix , an association of Catholic academics in Zurich, of which he was the first president from 1919 to 1923. He was also a board member of the Catholic School Association in Zurich and a member of the Hottingen guild .

As a member of the Christian Social Party (CSP) , Bürgi was a councilor in Wädenswil and from 1931 to 1940 he sat in the Zurich Cantonal Council , in which he was the first Christian Social Council President in 1939. From 1936 to 1940 he was President of the cantonal CSP , for which he was National Council from 1939 to 1943 . He was also on the board of directors of Zürcher Kantonalbank .
