Urs Dietrich

Urs Dietrich (born October 18, 1958 in Visp ) is a Swiss dancer and choreographer who works in Germany.

Life

Urs Dietrich first completed training in textile design . He then studied dance at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen from 1981 to 1985 , continued his studies in 1986 with a scholarship from the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Culture in New York and began working in the Folkwang dance studio in Essen. Since 1988 he has worked as a freelance dancer and choreographer. He created numerous group and solo dance pieces, with which he made guest appearances in European countries, in Asia and North and South America with the support of the Goethe Institute . In the Hebbel Theater Berlin his solo works "Da war suddenly ... - Heart chambers" (1995) and "At the border of the day" were premiered. Together with Susanne Linke he directed the Bremen dance theater from 1994–96 . There he worked as resident choreographer and artistic director until 2007. Since then he has been working freelance again.

Awards

In addition to scholarships, Dietrich received prizes such as the Kurt Jooss Prize of the City of Essen in 1985 , the Promotion Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1990 , the Kurt Hübner Prize in 1999 and the German Critics' Prize in 2004 .
