Urs Schoettli

Urs Werner Schoettli (* 1948 in Basel ) is a Swiss journalist and publicist .

Life

Schoettli studied philosophy at the University of Basel . From 1978 to 1982 he was Secretary General of the Liberal International in London. Subsequently he was executive vice president. From 1983 to 1989 he was South Asia correspondent for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) in Delhi. From 1990 to 1995 he worked as the Iberia representative of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, which is close to the FDP, in Madrid. From 1993 to 1995 he was secretary (honorary) of the Greater Europe Commission. This was followed by positions for NZZ in Hong Kong , Tokyo and Beijing . He has been working as an Asia consultant since 2010 . He has also published numerous books on the subject.

He is a member of the Board of International Consultants of the International Institute for Liberal Politics Vienna (IIP) and the Board of Trustees of the Max Schmidheiny Foundation at the University of St. Gallen .
