Scientific activities

Based on his work as a professor for the New Testament, but also with church inquiries, von Arx dealt with the topic of ecclesiology in the New Testament and early Christianity. In addition, due to the internal church discussion on the ordination of women , there was the question of the role of women in the church according to New Testament and early Christian witnesses.

However, the focus of Urs von Arx's research is the history of Old Catholicism, namely the early days of the Christian Catholic Church in Switzerland, as well as the ecumenical relations of the Old Catholic churches. He is the main editor of the International Church Journal (IKZ) and head of the Christian Catholic Central Library and the "Documentation Center for Old Catholic Literature and Publications" of the International Old Catholic Bishops' Conference. He is one of the founding members of the International Working Group on Old Catholicism Research.
