Ursula Bankroth

Ursula Bankroth (* 1941 in Magdeburg ) is a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Ursula Bankroth was born in Magdeburg in 1941. In 1958 she reached secondary school and began an apprenticeship as a ladies' tailor. From 1961 to 1964 she studied commercial graphics at the technical college for applied arts in Magdeburg and Berlin. She then studied painting from 1964 to 1969 at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts with Jutta Damme and Rudolf Bergander . She has been working freelance in Dresden since 1969. From 1971 to 1973 she took an apprenticeship at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. In 1973 she moved to Fürstenau , where she continued to work as a freelancer. In 1993 she accepted a teaching position as an artistic assistant at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. Ursula Bankroth lives and works in Dresden and Fürstenau.

Ursula Bankroth was married to the painter, graphic artist, photographer and ceramist Bernd Bankroth .

One focus of Ursula Bankroth's artistic work is the representation of the barren ridge landscape in Fürstenau. In her paintings, gouaches and monotypes, she captures typical features, the narrow, winding surfaces bordered by stone backs and the play of colors in the different seasons.
