Ursula Hertewich

Ursula Hertewich (born December 12, 1975 in Wadgassen ) is a German pharmacist and Dominican .

Life

Ursula Hertewich comes from a family of pharmacists. Her great-grandfather founded the Mathilden pharmacy in Wadgassen in Saarland in 1896, which has been family-owned since then. After graduating from high school in 1994, she studied pharmacy at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken , where she was licensed as a pharmacist in 1999. Afterwards she was a doctoral candidate in the working group Pharmacognosy and Analytical Phytochemistry. In 2001 she went to the University of Otago in Dunedin , New Zealand for a four-month research stay . In 2002 he received his doctorate in natural sciences. She was a member of the representative assembly of the Saarland Chamber of Pharmacists and, as secretary, member of the board of the DPhG Landesgruppe Saar and from 2001 chairwoman of the parish council in Wadgassen. From 2002 to 2004 she was a lecturer in nutrition at the University of Saarland.

After working in her parents' pharmacy for about seven years, she joined the Arenberg Monastery in June 2006 . In March 2009 she took her first religious vows and in March 2013 she made perpetual profession.

With Sr. M. Josefa Bölinger, the director of the monastery garden at the Arenberg Monastery, she published the book Heilkraft aus dem Kräutergarten in 2007 , which deals with monastery medicine from a modern, scientific point of view. She was interviewed on this topic by NDR Info in October 2009 , together with Johannes Gottfried Mayer from the University of Würzburg . She gives lectures on topics such as medicinal herbs and colds , gynecological diseases , essential oils and Christmas spices .

She appeared several times on television, for example on December 17, 2010 as a studio guest in the Nachtcafé (SWR) at the side of Jürgen von der Lippe and on July 7, 2012 in WISO plus (ZDF info) in an article on the topic of “Time out in the monastery “, Which was also broadcast on Sunday 9th September 2012 (ZDF).

Ursula Hertewich is active against leaving the church and is active as a blogger and in social media . Today she works as a pastor .

In 2018 she published the book "ZweiSichten" together with the author Mirko Kussin, in which the two authors each wrote a text from their own point of view on important social and theological catchphrases such as eternity, God, death or loyalty. The two authors then presented their book in numerous readings.
