Ursula Niehaus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ursula Niehaus (* 1965 in Cologne ) is a German writer .

Niehaus comes from a family of booksellers . Since she was unable to study German and history for family reasons, she completed an apprenticeship as an insurance saleswoman and then studied economics . In 1993 she went into business for herself with a fabric shop in Cologne, but had to give up the business because of a change in her husband's career. Niehaus realized her enthusiasm for textiles in the historical novel Die Seidenweberin , published in 2007 , in which she describes the fate of a young silk weaver in Cologne in the Middle Ages . Her first work was a success with the public, and she has been a full-time writer ever since. She lives with her husband Andreas in Ingelheim am Rhein and in Sardinia .
