Ursula Nilgen
Ursula Nilgen (born February 5, 1931 in Düsseldorf ; † December 20, 2018 in Munich ) was a German art historian .
Life
She studied art history , archeology and Egyptology at the universities of Cologne , Munich and Bonn , where she also received her doctorate in 1966 with a dissertation on an Ottonian Gospel manuscript . In Rome she worked as a scholarship holder of the Görres Society on the Lexicon of Christian Iconography (LCI) and other projects. She was an assistant at the Bibliotheca Hertziana and a scholarship holder of the German Research Foundation . After her habilitation in 1978 at the University of Göttingen with a thesis on the image program of Filarete's bronze door at St. Peter / Rome , she taught at the universities in Göttingen, Frankfurt am Main , Heidelberg and since 1982 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and as a visiting professor at the University of Paris IV and University of Vienna .
