Ursula Sladek

Ursula Margarete Sladek (* 1946 in Mühlheim am Main ) is a German entrepreneur in the field of green electricity .

Life

Ursula Sladek studied for primary and secondary school teaching, but never practiced this profession. She has been married to the doctor and “electricity rebel” Michael Sladek since 1969 . She met him in the 11th grade at the high school in Backnang and moved with him to Schönau in the Black Forest . The couple have five children together.

In 1986, after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster , she was co-founder and then chairwoman of the “Parents 'Citizens' Initiative for a Nuclear-Free Future” in Schönau in the Black Forest for ten years, from which an ultimately successful initiative to take over the local power grid from the previous network operator emerged. Since 1997 she has been in charge of the resulting green electricity provider Elektrizitätswerke Schönau (EWS). At the end of 2014, Ursula Sladek withdrew from the operative business and handed over the management to her sons.
