Ute Hommola

Ute Hommola (born January 20, 1952 in Weißenborn , Saxony ) is a former German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the bronze medal in the javelin throw at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow . She had also won the bronze medal two years earlier at the European Championships.

After her sports career, she became an agricultural engineer for animal breeding. She worked in an LPG (GDR agricultural company) in Oberbobritzsch , after the end of the GDR in an agricultural cooperative.

Ute Hommola started for SC Karl-Marx-Stadt and trained with Hermann Kretzschmann. In her active days, she was 1.74 m tall and weighed 74 kg.
