Uwe Boldt

Uwe Boldt (born March 3, 1928 in Hamburg ; † December 26, 2012 in Leipzig ) was a German journalist.

Life

Uwe Boldt had been pre-educated at a primary school in Hamburg since 1934 , and in 1938 he switched to the upper secondary school there, which he attended until 1943. He did his Reich labor service in 1945 in the Navy and then began training as an industrial clerk. He completed this in 1947 and became the trade union secretary of IG Bau-Holz . He also acted as editor of the newsletter.

From 1951 to 1954 Boldt studied journalism and newspaper studies at the University of Leipzig . In 1954 he was employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Journalism and Newspaper Studies in Leipzig and in 1956 he was promoted to senior assistant. In that year, 1956, he became a member of the Council of the Faculty of Journalism, which he remained until 1965.

1963 Boldt became a doctor of political science and economics doctorate based on his dissertation New forms of cooperation between the socialist press with their national correspondents in the struggle for the victory of socialism - an expression of the development of socialist democracy in the press of the GDR and ended the next year his studies .

In 1965 Boldt received a teaching position at the journalism faculty in Leipzig for the organization and planning of journalistic work and worked as a university lecturer . Since 1969 he has been a professor at the journalism section with a teaching position for management and planning in socialist journalism and was a member of the council of the journalism section, in 1983 he was finally given the chair for press and agency journalism. He held this professorship until 1990.

Boldt has been a member of the Kulturbund since 1946 and of the Association of Journalists of the GDR from 1953 to 1990 . From 1963 to 1970 he was responsible for PODIUM , a supplement to the Leipzig University magazine.
