Uwe Jens

Uwe Jens (* 2. October 1935 in Hamburg , † 20th March 2013 ) was a German honorary professor for economic policy and a SPD - politician .

Life

After elementary school he completed a commercial apprenticeship and was a commercial clerk in wholesale and foreign trade. Jens graduated from evening grammar school and graduated from high school in 1960. He studied economics in Tübingen and Hamburg, worked as a port worker and student assistant during his studies, and received his doctorate in economics and social sciences in 1970 (Dr. rer. Pol.).

Uwe Jens was an employee of the management of business associations, assistant to Prof. Jens Lübbert and Karl Schiller , adviser of the working group economic policy of the SPD parliamentary group, chairman of the staff council. He became a lecturer for economic policy at the University of Duisburg , honorary professor for economic policy and international economic relations at the Ruhr University in Bochum , consultant for international market development and innovation consulting . Jens has written books and articles on competition theory and policy, world economy, social and environmental economics.

Uwe Jens was a passionate sailor and used his retirement for long trips as a single-handed sailor. He lived with his wife, Dr. Inge Jens, in Voerde .

Uwe Jens was a member of the SPD since 1966, member of the SPD district executive in Niederrhein, member of the SPD state committee for North Rhine-Westphalia until 1995. He was a member of the Bundestag from 1972 to 2002 ( constituency Dinslaken and Wesel I ); Longstanding chairman and spokesman for economic policy in the SPD parliamentary group .
