Uwe Loos (Manager)

Uwe Loos (born March 6, 1946 in Worms ) is a German industrial manager. He held leading positions in various companies in the automotive and supplier industries. Since 2004 he has worked in numerous companies as a supervisory board, board member, advisory board and senior advisor. From 1998 to 2012 he was an honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich in the field of “Modern Production and Logistics Systems”.

Life

Uwe Loos graduated after College student trained as a metal aircraft manufacturer, and then studied at the FH Augsburg and at the Technical University of Berlin Engineering . His dissertation on the subject of manufacturing organization dates from 1976.

Act

The first professional positions led to Siemens in Berlin, to FAG Kugelfischer in Schweinfurt, to Krupp in Essen and to INA Wälzlager in Herzogenaurach.

When Loos was managing director of Löhr & Bromkamp GmbH in Offenbach (1990–1993), the company was named "Factory of the Year". It received the innovation award from the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and was recognized as the best company in the company suggestion scheme. During this time, the first lean factory in Germany was built under the leadership of Loos.

From 1993 to 1998 Loos supported the realignment of Porsche as a member of the executive board of Porsche AG , Stuttgart. As the person responsible for production and logistics, he realigned the sports car manufacturer's production according to the principles of lean production and the continuous improvement process (CIP). In 1996 Porsche AG received the “Factory of the Year” award.

As CEO of FAG Kugelfischer AG, Schweinfurt (1998–2001), Loos implemented an extensive structure and process optimization program. This led to a significant improvement in efficiency and earnings. In 2001, FAG also received the “Factory of the Year” award.

Loos ended his operational activities as CEO of Dekra , Stuttgart (2002–2003).

Since 2004 Loos has been active in numerous companies in Germany and abroad as a supervisory board, board of directors, advisory board and senior advisor. His work focuses on corporate strategy, development, production, logistics and quality processes as well as the digitization of value creation.

  • Chairman of the Württemberg Library Society, Stuttgart (since 2003)
  • Institute for Production Maintenance e. V. infpro, member of the scientific board of trustees (since 2008)
  • Member of the University Council Würzburg-Schweinfurt (2000–2008)
  • Chairman of the Advisory Board of the VDI Society for Vehicle and Transport Technology (2000–2006)
