Uwe Strümpel (born June 6, 1946 in Klein Bartensleben ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former teacher and headmaster.

Life

Strümpel's family fled the former GDR in 1954 for political reasons to Ingeleben in Lower Saxony , where the parents set up a general store . A post office was added later. Uwe Strümpel worked in the family business. In 1966 he passed the Abitur in Schöningen , then studied teaching for the elementary and secondary school in Braunschweig and then worked in 1969 as a teacher in Müden-Dieckhorst . A year later he switched to the Ostendorf primary school in Helmstedt . He was initially a member of the founding college of the so-called orientation level in the former Conring School before moving there in 1974. In 1983 he was appointed headmaster of the Lorenz-von-Mosheim orientation level until the orientation level fell away. For the 2003/2004 school year he was involved in the establishment of the Giordano Bruno Comprehensive School . He was also its founding director until retirement. He volunteered as a youth coach for several soccer teams.

Strümpel has been married since 1970. The couple have three children and three grandchildren.

politics

In 1972 Strümpel joined the SPD, where he held numerous functions. He has been a member of the Helmstedt City Council since 1986, where he was parliamentary group leader for many years. Since 2011 he has also been a member of the Helmstedt district council through preferential votes . In the 2013 state elections , he won the direct mandate in the Helmstedt constituency against Elisabeth Heister-Neumann and thus entered the state parliament . Had he not won his constituency, he would not have entered the state parliament: He ran for last place on the SPD's state list.
