Christof Moser (born January 7, 1964 in Feldkirch , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian pianist and composer and music teacher . Since 1995 he has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

Live and act

Christof Moser was born in Feldkirch as one of six children of a music-loving family. His mother was an organist in Nenzing for over 60 years , his father was the leader of a male choir and various children's choirs .

He received piano lessons at the music school in Feldkirch, which he continued with Jacek Lukaszczyk at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory . With Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 , Christof Moser celebrated his debut in the Stadthalle of Feldkirch in 1981 as part of the soloist orchestral concert of the Vorarlberg State Conservatory. Moser continued his education in the jazz seminar in Dornbirn with Rolf Aberer and Benny Gleeson . In 1991 he and his band mates Gerold Moser, Martin Böhm, Lukas Schiske and Hans-Peter Lechner won the city of Feldkirch's culture prize of 50,000 schillings with the rock group “Do it yourself” . With “Do it yourself” he also won the Austria / Eastern Europe final of the “Yamaha Band Explosion Competition” in the same year and was thus able to reach the Germany / Switzerland / Austria final in Cologne on September 22, 1991 .

After three years as a piano teacher at the music school in Thuringia and the music elementary school in Bludesch , he moved to Vienna , where he continued his piano studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts . After completing his studies, he worked as a music teacher at the Vienna Federal High School and Federal High School 23. His professional career took him further to today's University of Education in Vienna and the University of Music, where he has been teaching since 1995 and qualified as a professor in 2010. He is currently an associate professor at the Ludwig van Beethoven Institute for piano and harpsichord in the music education department of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

Musical career

In addition to his teaching activities, Christof Moser leads various seminars and workshops in the fields of piano, keyboards and ensembles, for example for the Austrian Cultural Service (ÖKS), Kulturkontakte , the Austrian Federal Publishing House , the Vienna City School Council, the Pedagogical Institute Vienna and Tyrol and Musik ohne Limits .

His music is characterized by the crossing of musical boundaries. He composes and plays experimental rock music , plays the piano, Hammond organ , Mellotron or synthesizer in several rock bands, including his own bands Exodus and Do It Yourself . He composed film scores ( Der Fremde , Universum Mostviertel , Adagio in White , Viola ) and other commissioned compositions.

Together with his piano partner Michael Hruby, he performed Michael Amanns ... for 2 pianos in the Bösendorfer Hall in Vienna's Mozarthaus for the first time. In 2005 he played piano and drums at the Wiener Konzerthaus and in 2006 founded the chamber music duo pianodrum , which produces and performs pieces of music for piano and drums. In addition to concerts at home and abroad, the first CD was released by Gramola in autumn 2010 with the drummers Chester Thompson , Mario Lackner , Alex Dostal and Bernard Galane . The repertoire of pianodrum ranges from arrangements of baroque works to entertaining ambient music lounge music .

Moser plays in various chamber music ensembles and gave concerts with the participation of Rainer Honeck , Markus Meyer , Hyung-ki Joo and Luca Lombardo . He participated in pop-rock music projects with Betty S , Maria Petrova , Sumitra Nanjundan , Steven Moser , Leni Lust , kjukoon , The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (Genesis), Inzeption , Love Zeppelin , Little Big Family . He made studio recordings with pianodrum , Exodus , Do It Yourself ,   Violetta Parisini , Reinhold Bilgeri , EAV , tenor Laszlo .
