history
Place name
Old names of the place are around 1086 Ingeleuo / Ingelovo , 1135 and 1136 Iggeleve , 1148 Iggenlove , 1193 Ingeleve and 1194 Ingeleive .
The place name is an education with the basic word " -leben " and the tribe "Ingo", which is derived from Ingvi - the name of the tribe god of the Ingwäonen . The meaning “legacy, inheritance, property of Ingo” can be deduced from this.
Thirty Years' War
When troops marched through the town during the Thirty Years War , Ingeleben and the church bought themselves free from the plunder. A stone cross (Schwedenkreuz) at the intersection of the village documents this process.

Former mayor
coat of arms
The design of the municipal coat of arms comes from the Braunschweig head of studies , heraldry and graphic artist Wilhelm Krieg . The coat of arms, which was also approved by the Wolfenbüttel State Archives , was adopted by the municipal council on February 9 and May 20, 1965 and approved by the Brunswick administrative president on June 16 of the same year.
Blazon : “In the divided coat of arms above in gold a soaring, red armed black wolf ; below in red three silver , fan-shaped swords with gold pommel. " | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The Ingeleben coat of arms is composed of the coats of arms of families who used to have influence in the village. Kord Wulf von Ingeleben sealed the seal with a wolf in 1391. The Brunswick patricians Ludolf and Hans von Ingeleben used seals with three swords in 1348 and 1412, respectively. The three number also indicates that Ingeleben grew out of three parts of the area: from the Ingeleben field mark and the two desert areas (Hohen) -Neinstedt and Vensleben. |
