Uwe Vengels

Uwe Vengels (born August 14, 1960 in Wesel ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

Coming from the youth of the Weseler Spielverein , Vengels became German A youth champions in 1976/77 with MSV Duisburg with a 2-1 final victory over VfB Stuttgart. He then moved to Bayer 05 Uerdingen , where he played in the senior division from 1979 to 1984. At the Bayer factory club, he had alongside players such as Werner Vollack , Matthias Herget , Werner Buttgereit and Friedhelm Funkel five appearances in the second division ( 1982/83 season ) and three appearances in the first division ( 1983/84 ). With Bayer 05, Vengels made it to the Bundesliga in 1983 in the relegation games against FC Schalke 04 .

In the summer of 1984, the offensive player moved to the reigning league champions 1. FC Bocholt in the third-class Oberliga Nordrhein , where he developed into a dangerous midfield strategist in the following years. Although Vengels regularly landed at the top of the top scorer lists, it was mostly enough for his club only for top positions (third place in 1985/86 and 1989/90 ), fourth place ( 1988/89 ). In the 1992/93 season , Uwe Vengels celebrated the runner -up with his club behind Rot-Weiss Essen and thus qualified for the German amateur championship , where they just missed the final. In 1994 Vengels rose to 1. FC Bocholt in the Regionalliga West / Südwest . He ended his active career in 1998 at the age of 37.

In 2004 Uwe Vengels got into the coaching business at Bocholter A-Kreisliga club SV Biemenhorst and worked there until the summer of 2010. For the 2011/12 season he took over the coaching position at the Kreisliga B club Weseler SV .
