Career

Although he belonged to the Bundesliga squad for three seasons , he only came on a brief assignment. In the 1978/79 season he was substituted on by coach Friedel Rausch on the 26th matchday in the final phase for Helmut Müller against Hertha BSC . The game was lost 1: 4. In 1980 he moved to city rivals FSV Frankfurt . The FSV played in the southern season of the 2nd Bundesliga . Weigert completed 29 games; Due to the introduction of the single-track 2nd Bundesliga, for which the qualification was not achieved, the move to the third division had to be accepted. He stayed and made a direct return to League 2 with his team-mates. Even in his second round in the 2nd Bundesliga, he did not achieve full sporting success: In the end, he was relegated. Weigert played in the Oberliga Hessen until 1991 . He then moved to FSV Fernwald , where he played until 1994.
