The football sports club 1926 Fernwald is a sports club from Steinbach in Central Hesse , a district of the Fernwald community . Until June 2007 it was called FSV 1926 Steinbach .
history
Founded in 1926 as FSV Steinbach , the club was merged with other Steinbach sports clubs in 1935 as part of the National Socialist policy of harmonization, and the Steinbach gymnastics and sports community was created . In May 1949 the football club was re-established. The club is a pure football club, no other sports are practiced
The club celebrated its greatest success in 2005 with promotion to the Oberliga Hessen , which was secured by a 2-1 win on the last match day of the Landesliga Hessen Mitte at competitor TSV Eintracht Stadtallendorf .
In a general meeting on December 8, 2006, it was decided to rename the association on July 1, 2007. The club name has been FSV 1926 Fernwald since then . Nikolaus Semlitsch has been the sporting director at FSV since April 1, 2006, and since October 2007 he has also been a coach. He was released on September 12, 2009. Successor is the previous assistant Stephan Belter.
After the 2013/14 season of the Hessenliga , the FSV withdrew from the league. Since then, the team has played in the regional league Gießen / Marburg Süd. In the 2018/19 season, the FSV Fernwald, as champion of the Association League Middle Hessen, managed to return to the Oberliga Hessen.
sports ground
The venue of the FSV Fernwald is the sports field on Oppenröder Straße in Fernwald-Steinbach. There is an artificial turf pitch next to the grass pitch , which also serves as a training facility for the other clubs in the Fernwald community. If the natural grass pitch was not playable, the games in the Hessen League were played here. The sports field has a capacity of around 2500 spectators.
