Uxbridge is a town in Worcester County in the US -amerikanischen State Massachusetts . It was established as an independent ward on June 27, 1727 when the Massachusetts government allowed the residents of Mendon to elect their own township . The city was named after the Earl of Uxbridge , who was Massachusetts Attorney General at the time.
In 1731, the first Congregationalist church , influenced by the Great Awakening , was established in Uxbridge . Uxbridge was a center of the textile industry for more than 140 years, producing military uniforms and cashmere wool. It is the geographic center of Blackstone National Park Administration, the birthplace of America's industry.
