The 6,422  m high Uzun Brakk is a mountain in Panmah Muztagh in the Karakoram in the special territory of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan .

location

It lies on the east side of the Biafo Glacier and belongs to the Ogre Group . Its south ridge runs in a longer ridge on which there are other peaks. This ridge lies between the Biafo and Uzun Brakk glaciers . On the east side of the Uzun Brakk Glacier lies the Ogre ( Baintha Brakk ), the highest mountain of the Panmah Muztagh.

Ascent history

The first ascent of Uzun Brakk took place in 1980 by the Scots Will Tapsfield and Tony Saunders in alpine style . They also named the mountain after the glacier. An American mountaineering team climbed the secondary peak with an altitude of about 5800  m in 1987 and named it Ogre's Thumb . This summit is on the east side of the Uzun Brakk Glacier. A German mountaineering team (Stefan Köhler, Eduard Koch, Christian Fütterer, Bernd Eibel and Michael Saumweber) led by Ulrich Eberhardt climbed the mountain over the southwest face. Another German team (Michael, Lendroth, Jürgen Wittmann, Andreas Dick, Christoph Zuleger and Michael Kinne) climbed the Adrak Brakk , a secondary summit at 5800  m on the west side, without reaching the summit. In 1994 Michi Wärthl climbed the southwest face.
