The Västerås Rönnby IBK is a Swedish sports club from the city of Västerås . The women's team is one of the most successful teams in the history of Swedish floorball.

history

The association was founded on May 27, 1992 in the district of Rönnby in Västerås, which also gave the association its name.

1993/94 Rönnby Västerås played for the first time in the highest Swedish league. After only one season, they were relegated second to last in one of the six divisions. A year later they played again in the top division. 1989/99 succeeded the women's team to move into the semifinals, but where they failed at the IBF Falun . Until 2005, the team always qualified for the quarter-finals of the championship. In the spring of 2006 Rönnby stood for the first time in the final of the Svenska Superligan, which was lost to the university team IKSU . A year later, Rönnby returned the favor to IKSU in the final of the SSL: They celebrated a title for the first time with a 4: 3 win after a penalty shootout in front of 10,092 spectators. In the following season, the season ended in fourth place. Another year later, they finished in third place. In 2010 the team moved into the final of the highest Swedish league for the third time. The opponent was again IKSU, which one could defeat 7: 6 after penalty shootout. In the following two seasons they finished the season in fourth place. In 2012/13 they qualified again for the final of the SSL. Opponent was like in the previous finals IKSU. With a 4: 3 win they secured the third championship. By winning the championship, you automatically qualified for the Champions Cup, which the team won. In the championship of the 2013/14 season you got to the semifinals, where you failed at KAIS Mora IF . A year later they played the SSL final against KAIS Mora IF. In the fifth participation in the final they were defeated by Tigern KAIS Mora IF with 5: 3. In the 2015/16 season they were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Endre IF. In the following season you had to leave the Kristiansborgshallen, the previous home ground, because it no longer met the demands of the league. You then switched to the Bombardier Arena. In the quarter-finals they lost to the reigning champion Pixbo Wallenstam IBK .

After the season, the club decided to rename the club in Västerås Rönnby IBK.

The first teams of the IBK play in the Bombardier Arena in Västerås . The hall has a capacity of 1800 people.
