location

The monument is located under a tree in a triangular square between the church and the domain.

history

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig in 1913, a special memorial was erected in many villages in Anhalt . Anhalt itself was not involved in the fighting of the battle, but was particularly badly affected by troop movements in 1813, so that in the course of the year each of the three main parties ( France , Russia , Prussia ) had to provide troops and also had to provide accommodation for troop numbers, which far exceeded the number of inhabitants. The victory at Leipzig was therefore a particular relief for the country.

shape

The monument in Gnetsch is one of the most common types, consisting of a pile of stones crowned by an upright inscription stone. The design of the text field is also typical: there is an iron cross under October 18, 1813–1913 . Since they do not name any dead, they are part of the border area of war memorials .
