Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Zerbst)
The Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Zerbst is a memorial in the town of Zerbst / Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt . The small monument is under monument protection and is entered in the monument register with registration number 094 41403 as a monument .
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig , a Monument to the Battle of the Nations was erected in many of Anhalt's villages . While these were mostly designed as a crowned piles of stones or simple memorial stone , other forms were decided in the cities. Similar to nearby Lindau , the tower shape was chosen in Zerbst, but a complete tower was created straight away.
Based on the Bismarck towers of the Götterdämmerung design , a so-called pillar of fire was created. This was created north of the city above Mozartstrasse. This brazier should be lit on every anniversary of the battle. The small hill on which the tower stands is accessible by stairs from the north and south. On the south side is the common inscription 1813 October 18, 1913 .
