Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Zabitz)
The Völkerschlachtdenkmal von Zabitz is a memorial stone in the unified community Osternienburger Land in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt . The small monument is under monument protection and is registered in the monument register with registration number 094 97238 as a monument .
location
In the north of Zabitz , the streets of the Zabitzer Chaussee form two squares. On the west is the memorial stone under an oak near the inn.
history
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig in 1913, a number of monuments were erected. In Anhalt , which did not have its own units during the battle, as it was heavily buffeted by all the main parties involved ( France , Russia , Prussia ) with billeting and various demands, the Prussian-Russian victory was nevertheless cause for joy, as it meant the Burdens ended.
Figure and inscriptions
The appearance corresponds to the common type of the Köthener Land : on a pile of stones there is a vertical inscription stone, which bears the information 1813/18 October / 1913 . Since they do not name any fallen soldiers, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations is part of the border area of the war memorials . However, the memorial was later expanded by a plaque that was placed at the foot and bears the inscription To commemorate / the victims of / wars and / tyranny . There is a similar expansion in Micheln . Similar to Pißdorf , the memorial complex is also surrounded by a wooden fence.
