Völkischer Bund

The Völkische Bund (VB) was a right-wing extremist organization based in Wiesbaden that existed from 1985 to 1995.

History and organization

The Völkischer Bund consisted of around 25 members under the leadership of the NPD functionary Peter Naumann and was founded by him in the summer of 1985. It appeared for the first time as part of so-called sun and winter solstice celebrations , where it could activate up to 100 participants. The celebrations took place in a conspiratorial manner and, in addition to the celebrations, offered the participants speeches by well-known right-wing extremists such as Emil Maier-Dorn , Lisbeth Grolitsch and Peter Stöckicht .

The organization was strictly hierarchical and centralized. In addition to Naumann, other functionaries were Bernhard Archner and Naumann's wife Heidemarie Naumann . Contacts existed with the radical wing of the Hessian NPD and later with the Young National Democrats (JN), the Nationalist Front , the Working Group of German Interests , the Ulrich von Hutten Circle of Friends and the Oberland Bund . The organization mainly distributed propaganda material and conducted right-wing extremist training courses.

From 1985 to 1987 it was listed in the reports for the protection of the constitution together with the working group of national associations under the name ANV / VB. The ANV, however, was an independent organization that served as a connecting platform between the NPD, Aktion Oder-Neisse and the emergency administration of the German East . The confusion arose because the two organizations worked closely together and used the abbreviation ANV / VB on leaflets.

From 1989 to 1993 the VB ceased its activities as far as possible, as Peter Naumann was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for several terrorist activities. After his dismissal, the VB carried out a propaganda campaign under the slogan “The fame of the dead lives forever”.

In 1995 Naumann dissolved the organization after he became known to the public as a suspected trainer of right-wing terrorist circles. After the liquidation, Naumann handed over 13 weapons depots to the police.

Ideological orientation

The Völkischer Bund saw itself as a National Socialist cadre troop that was supposed to help build conspiratorial structures. The ideology was aggressively racist , glorifying war and NS. She also promoted right-wing extremist conspiracy theories, such as the alleged murder of Rudolf Hess . In addition, she exercised solidarity with the "freedom struggle" in South Tyrol .
