VALO-CD is a collection of free software on CD for Microsoft Windows . The aim of the project is to disseminate knowledge and increase the use of FLOSS software.

history

The project started in 2008 and aims to strengthen the technological and economic development of Finland. Because VALO-CD was made in Finland , it was only available in Finnish at the beginning . From version 7, there is an international version of VALO-CD, this is also available in English. The Finnish version of VALO-CD had the specific goal of focusing only on localized free software.

Surname

The acronym VALO means "Free / Libre Open-Source Software" in Finnish, but the word can also stand for "light". As a result, the name of the project has a connotation for creating enlightenment.
