MTV Top 100 (until December 8, 2017 VIVA Top 100 ) was a broadcast by the German music channel MTV . The show has been produced since 1994 and was most recently moderated by VJs Jan Köppen , Uli Brase and Aminata Belli . The last issue ran on October 26, 2019.

The program was broadcast on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:15 p.m. on TV on MTV. There was also a shortened version on YouTube.

procedure

The MTV Top 100 shows selected music videos from the Top 100 of the official German single charts . For a long time, at the end of the program, the current top 20 were summarized in a quick review in two parts - first places 20 to eleven and later places ten to two. However, this has not been the case for some time. Since the program was no longer recorded on October 9, 2015, but broadcast live, it has been designed to be more interactive, for example tweets from users are integrated live and prominent guests are invited to the studio, who are interviewed. In the section The Sound of Vodafone there is also a live performance by the guest or a newcomer band. The series has been recorded in portrait format since May 4, 2019.

At the beginning of 2009, the station initially discontinued VIVA Top 20 for unknown reasons. At that time it was moderated mainly by Johanna Klum and temporarily or on behalf of Liza Li .

From January 2011 the program VIVA Top 20 ran again on VIVA. It was broadcast on Tuesdays from 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. and only showed the top 20 of the German single charts . The show was basically a repetition of the VIVA Top 100, but only related to the Top 20 of the single charts. The moderators were accordingly those who moderated the top 100 in the respective week.

In 2012 the program was discontinued again.

From September 8, 2014, the show was back on the program under the name VIVA Top 20 Single Charts, but it was not moderated. It served as the successor to the VIVA Top 40 single charts and was broadcast on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. until September 2015. From October 2015 the program ran on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. From April 2016 to December 2018, it ran on Tuesdays and Fridays at 12:00 p.m.

VIVA Top 100 Online

In addition to the TV editions, an almost 6-minute online version of the program was published on the station's YouTube channel every Friday from February 20, 2015 to October 2, 2015 at 12:00 . It was moderated by the same VJ, which was also seen in the current regular issue. It showed short excerpts of the favorite video of the respective VJ, a new release, the highest newcomer and the top 3 of the singles charts.
