The eastern Main-Kinzig district (former district of Schlüchtern ) and the city of Birstein belonged to the business area .
history
On March 19, 1865, the advance payment association Steinau was founded in Steinau an der Straße , which was renamed Volksbank Steinau in 1928 . Until 1954, the only branch was in the private house of the merchant CA Wessel in today's Brüder-Grimm-Straße; the business was run by his son-in-law Joseph Heimann, which is why the building is now known as the Heimanns House . After that, a new bank building was moved into and in 1962 a branch was opened in nearby Schlüchtern.
Five years later, in 1870, the Birsteiner savings and advance payment association was founded in Birstein . In 1938 it was renamed Birsteiner Volksbank . In 1949 a branch was opened in Schlierbach (today part of Brachttal ), and in 1953 the savings and lending bank of the Wächtersbacher stoneware factory was taken over.
The first cooperative bank in the Bergwinkel was established in 1892 when the Hohen-Niederzeller Loan Fund Association was founded in Hohenzell (now in Schlüchtern) . In 1894, the savings and loan association Ulmbach followed in Ulmbach (today in Steinau an der Straße) . Numerous small cooperative banks quickly sprang up in the individual villages.
In the 1960s, most of the smaller cooperative banks merged to form three larger cooperative banks: Raiffeisenbank Bergwinkel , Raiffeisenbank Sterbfritz and Raiffeisenbank Vogelsberg . In 1987 the first two Raiffeisen banks mentioned merged to form Raiffeisenbank Schlüchtern-Sinntal .
In 1994 Volksbank Steinau and Raiffeisenbank Schlüchtern-Sinntal merged to form Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Schlüchtern . In 2005 the Raiffeisenbank Ulmbach took it on.
The VR-Bank Schlüchtern-Birstein was created in 2012 through the merger of Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Schlüchtern with Raiffeisenbank Vogelsberg . In 2014, the Birsteiner Volksbank finally took it on.
service
The bank operated seven branches: two in Schlüchtern, two in Steinau (including one in Ulmbach) and one each in Birstein, Sinntal (Sterbfritz) and Brachttal (Hellstein).
