history
The establishment of the Genossenschaftsbank Fulda falls in the middle of the so-called "long 19th century". Of the 31 other, formerly independent banks, which, in addition to the “advance association”, form the roots of the Fulda cooperative bank, 22 loan offices were founded between 1889 and 1897. Eight other start-ups followed until the beginning of the Second World War . Among them was the Fuldaer Kreditgenossenschaft eGmbH (1930), which was the first bank to merge with the Fuldaer Alte Filiale of Volksbank Fulda Kreditgenossenschaft eGmbH, later VR Genossenschaftsbank Fulda eG, with effect from January 1, 1942. Volksbank Fulda was founded in 1963 as the 31st and youngest bank. The founding fathers were farmers and artisans, but also pastors and teachers.
In 2018 the VR Genossenschaftsbank Fulda eG merged with the VR Bank Schlüchtern-Birstein eG. The cooperative bank is now called VR Bank Fulda eG .

The bank has 19 branches and two self-service points. The business area extends in the district of Fulda over the cities of Fulda and Gersfeld , the communities Neuhof (near Fulda) , Kalbach , Eichenzell , Künzell , Ebersburg , Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe) , Ehrenberg (Rhön) , and Hilders , in the district of Schmalkalden via Kaltensundheim and the Municipalities of the administrative community Hohe Rhön and the Wartburg district with the city of Kaltennordheim .
