The VSV Union Wacker 1908 Breslau ( Union Wacker Breslau for short ) was a German football club from the central Silesian city of Breslau .

history

The club was founded in 1908 and played in the Southeast German Football Association (SOFV). In 1922/23 the club played for the first time in a subgroup of the district class Middle Silesia , one of the five first-class leagues of the SOFV at that time. Since the groups were reduced in size for the following seasons, Union Wacker Breslau had to relegate after just one season. For the 1927/28 season the promotion succeeded again, but in 1928/29 the club rose for the second time. The third ascent succeeded Breslau for the 1931/32 season .

In the course of the Gleichschaltung, the Southeast German Football Association was dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. In its place came the Gauliga Silesia including the substructure. Only the four best teams from Breslau received a starting place in this Gauliga. Since Union Wacker Breslau was seventh in the 1932/33 season , the club was classified in the second-rate district league of Central Silesia . But even this was too strong for the Breslauer, with twelve points the club rose in 1933/34 as the last in the 1st district class Breslau . In 1937/38 the club won the district class, thereby qualified for the promotion round to the district league Middle Silesia and prevailed in this, so that Union Wacker played again in the second division after four years. Again, the club could not hold permanently in the league, the 1939/40 season ended with relegation.

After the reorganization of the Sportgaue due to the war, Union Wacker Breslau was promoted to 1st class in Lower Silesia in 1941/42 , the substructure of the Lower Silesian Gauliga . In 1943 it was decided to dissolve the lower class leagues and include all teams still capable of playing in the Lower Silesian Gauliga. Thus, Breslau rose to the first-class Gauliga for the 1943/44 season . The 1944/45 season was still under way, but due to the war Union-Wacker was only able to play one point game.

Due to the consequences of the war and the resulting award of Wroclaw to Poland, the association expired in 1945.
