Vaclovas Aliulis

Vaclovas Aliulis MIC (born March 14, 1921 in Krekštėnai near Krokialaukis , Alytus Rajongemeinde ; † May 26, 2015 ) was a Lithuanian Roman Catholic priest .

Life

In 1937 Aliulis joined the Marian Order . By 1940 he graduated from the Marijampolė High School and in 1945 the Kaunas Seminary as well as the study of theology at Kaunas University . On June 11, 1944, he was ordained a priest .

From 1970 to 1974 he was vice rain of the Kaunas seminary. From 1970 to 1974 and from 1988 to 1989 Aliulis taught at the Kaunas Seminary. From 1988 to 1991 he was a Seimas council member of the Sąjūdis independence movement . From 1988 he was co-founder, from 1992 to 1995 and from 1999 President of the Lithuanian Bible Association (Lietuvos Biblijos draugija) . In 1989 he founded the Roman Catholic magazine " Katalikų pasaulis " and was its editor-in-chief until 1991 and from 1990 to 1993 director of the Catholic publishing house "Katalikų pasaulis" (Eng. 'Katholikenwelt'). From 1989 to 1992 he was the senior pastor of the Catholic youth organization Ateitininkai , from 1989 to 1993 Lithuanian Vice Provincial of the Marians, from 1993 to 1999 their vicar general .

Since 1991 he was a member of the Lithuanian Catholic Academy of Sciences .
