Vagnhärad is a Swedish village ( Tatort ) in the municipality of Trosa , between Gnesta , Södertälje and Trosa . The place has a train station and a post office.
Vagnhärad was first mentioned in 1350 as Wanghæradh. In 1997 there was a major landslide in which several houses slid into Trosaån .
The town was also the model for the town of Hedeby in Sven Delblanc's novels Åminne (1970), Stenfågel (1973), Vinteride (1974) and Stadsporten (1976), which was filmed between 1978 and 1982 as the 18-part television series Hedebyborna , which was successful in Sweden . The series was filmed in and around Vagnhärad.
