The state-owned company VEB Vakutronik was founded as an industrial and research company for nuclear physics and nuclear technology . The main research and production area of Vakutronik was, among other things, measuring devices for X-ray and radioactive radiation as well as ionization chambers . The production was completed by electronic and electrotechnical devices such as electron tubes , voltage generators and meters as well as vibration capacitors.

Company history

The first plant, VEB Vakutronik Dresden , was founded in 1957 at the suggestion of the physicist Werner Hartmann . Hartmann was director and at least until 1965 also technical director.

On April 1, 1960, a second plant was created with VEB Vakutronik Pockau.

The companies were subordinate to the Office for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Technology of the GDR. In 1963 VEB Vakutronik was named a scientific industrial company and affiliated with VVB RFT Nachrichten- und Messtechnik Leipzig . In 1968 the company had 1,400 employees, 300 of whom were engineers. VEB Vakutronik Dresden was one of the most important manufacturers of nuclear radiation measurement technology worldwide.

On March 1, 1969, the company was transferred to the VEB RFT Meßelektronik Dresden together with the VEB Funkwerk Dresden and the VEB vibration technology and acoustics Dresden , which was only given the name of the anti-fascist Otto Schön in 1972 . Ten years later this was incorporated into the VEB Robotron Combine as VEB Robotron-Meßelektronik "Otto Schön" Dresden . From 1990 the division and privatization of different parts of the company took place.
