Valérie Reggel

Valérie Reggel (born January 3, 1987 in Cameroon ) is a Swiss athlete and heptathlete .

Reggel lived in Cameroon for the first four years before she was adopted by her aunt, who lives in Switzerland, and her husband. At the age of nine she joined the LV Winterthur . From 2003 she specialized in heptathlon; In 2006 she took part in the U20 World Athletics Championships and was fourteenth with 5244 points. In 2013 she was named Winterthur Sportswoman of the Year . During her heptathlon career she was trained by Pål Johansen.

From 2011 to 2013 she was three times Swiss champion in heptathlon.

At the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich, she was twelfth with her personal best of 6091 points.

In 2015 she gave up at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing .

At the European Athletics Championships 2016 in Amsterdam was thirteenth.

In 2017 she decided to withdraw from the heptathlon due to knee problems and will only start in individual disciplines from now on. In addition, at the end of 2018, after 22 years, she will switch from her previous association LV Winterthur to TV Wohlen , where she also lives and works.
