The U-20 African Football Championship 2007 was the 15th edition of the tournament for junior football national teams (U-20) in Africa organized by the African Football Association (CAF) . The tournament was held from January 20th to February 3rd 2007 in the Republic of the Congo . The hosts won with a 1-0 win over Nigeria . The two finalists and the losing semi-finalists Gambia and Zambia qualified for the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada.

The Republic of Congo became African champions for the first time thanks to a goal from Franchel Ibara .
World Championship
The Republic of the Congo , Nigeria , Gambia and Zambia qualified for the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada. There, the Republic of the Congo finished their preliminary group behind Chile and Austria in third place and were eliminated in the round of 16 against Mexico . Nigeria finished their preliminary group in second place behind Japan . After beating Zambia in the round of 16, Nigeria were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Chile. Zambia had previously finished the preliminary round in second place behind Spain . Gambia finished the preliminary round behind Mexico in second place in their group and were eliminated in the round of 16 against Austria.
