The 2015 U-20 African Football Championship was the 19th edition of the tournament for junior football teams (U-20) in Africa organized by the African Football Association (CAF) . The tournament was held in Senegal from March 8 to 22, 2015 . The winner was Nigeria with a 1: 0 win over the hosts . The two finalists and the losing semi-finalists Ghana and Mali qualified for the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

The teams first played a preliminary round in two groups of four teams each. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided on the placement. The first two in each group qualified for the semi-finals. If there was a tie, extra time and possibly a penalty shoot-out was played there.

Nigeria became African champions for the seventh time with a goal from Bernard Bulbwa .

World Championship

Nigeria , Senegal , Ghana and Mali qualified for the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. There Nigeria finished the preliminary round behind Brazil in second place. In the second round, the African champions were eliminated by Germany . Senegal finished the preliminary round in third place behind Portugal and Colombia . After beating Ukraine in the second round and Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals, Senegal lost to eventual world champions Serbia in the semi-finals and Mali in the game for third place. Mali had finished the preliminary round behind Serbia and Uruguay in third place and prevailed against Ghana in the round of 16. After beating Germany in the quarter-finals, Mali lost to Brazil in the semi-finals. Ghana had won its preliminary group ahead of Austria , Argentina and Panama .
