The U-21 African Football Championship in 1993 was the eighth edition of the tournament for junior football teams (U-21) in Africa organized by the African Football Association (CAF) . The tournament was held in Mauritius from January 30th to February 10th, 1993 . The winner was Ghana by a 2: 0 victory over Cameroon . The two finalists qualified for the 1993 Junior World Championship in Australia.

The teams first played a preliminary round in two groups of four teams each. The first two in each group qualified for the semi-finals. If there was a tie, extra time and possibly a penalty shoot-out was played there.

World Championship

Ghana and Cameroon qualified for the 1993 Junior World Cup in Australia. There Ghana reached the quarter-finals in its preliminary round behind Uruguay and ahead of Germany and Portugal . There the African champions prevailed against Russia and, after another victory against England, moved into the final, losing to Brazil 1: 2. Cameroon finished the preliminary round in third place behind Russia and Australia .
